Micropigmentation is a cosmetic or sometimes medical procedure that uses colored pigment to enhance features such as eyebrows, hairlines, lips, eyes, areola, stretch marks, and scars. Micropigmentation is suitable for both men and women. The procedure itself involves inserting a small, thin needle into the skin which injects a colored pigment below the skin’s epidermis layer, top layer, into the dermal layer, second layer. Each micro-pigmentation procedure uses a different technique when inserting the pigment into the skin, but the result is usually the same: a long-lasting and natural-looking enhancement of a particular feature that allows clients to feel more confident from the minute they wake up.
Micropigmentation can be performed on many areas of the body but is most commonly executed around the face and head.
Micropigmentation is also great as it suits all skin types. Below are some examples of how and where micro pigmentation can be performed on the body.
MICROPIGMENTATION SERVICES
EYEBROWS
Throughout the ages, eyebrows have always been one of the main focuses of our beauty regimes. In today’s world, micro-pigmentation has become one of the most popular techniques to achieve the most beautiful eyebrows without having to spend hours in front of the mirror. The technique uses fine lines or mimicking the hair strokes of the natural brows and also utilizes dots of pigments; these small dots allow the color to gradually be built up resulting in a more desirable ombré and natural effect. The result: full, beautifully diffused brows.
EYELINER
The process involves injecting a dark-colored pigment onto the eyelid that mimics the look of your everyday pencil or liquid liner. Micropigmentation eyeliner is usually chosen by those who want to wear eyeliner every day without the hassle of applying it. Micropigmentation eyeliner can usually be applied in a number of different ways that suit each individual client’s needs.
LIPS
Now more than ever, women dream of having plump, luscious, and beautifully-colored lips every day.
Lips Micropigmentation is a technique that has been designed to make the lips look constantly full and colorful essentially mimicking the effect of lipstick, revitalization effect, or correction on dark lips. The process involves using a small needle that gently inserts the client’s chosen color, which can normally be custom-blended by the artist into the lip in order to create a natural-colored effect.
Lip micropigmentation ensures that colors don’t fade or smudge but can also add definition and, with some techniques, make the lips look larger.
AREOLA RECONSTRUCTION
This procedure is often performed after breast reconstruction or a mastectomy. Areola reconstruction can either drastically reduce the appearance of surgery scars or create a new nipple altogether. Areola colors can be custom-made by the artist performing the procedure and shadowing micro pigmentation techniques are used to create a natural-looking effect.
SCAR CAMOUFLAGE
Micropigmentation offers an alternative to makeup as a way of camouflaging a scar. Whilst it conceals the burn in the same way as makeup, medical micropigmentation can last for up to three years. Scar victims, therefore, do not have to worry about constantly re-applying makeup and can be more confident in their day to day activities
SCALP
Whilst micropigmentation has traditionally been associated with mimicking the look of certain make-up techniques, it has also been adapted to help with those suffering with unwanted hair loss.
Scalp micropigmentation has been designed to help those who have lost a lot of self-confidence because of hair loss. It is a non-invasive treatment, using a specialized pigment and needle to penetrate the skin and create tiny follicles throughout the scalp. Essentially, scalp micropigmentation produces little dots to mimic the look of stubble, creating a natural-looking and stylish hairstyle.
